UPS Mistake leads to Rome Man’s Arrest for Package Theft

Cody Shawn Winters, 30 of Rome, was jailed this week after he was accused of stealing another’s package that had been accidently delivered to his home.

Reports said that a UPS driver delivered a package to Winter’s home instead of the correct address, both of which were on Lindsey.

An investigation was launched and video footage from the home showed that the package did go to Winters’ home.

After speaking with Winters, he told investigators that he took the package to the Armuchee Post Office. An employee of the post office then informed investigators that any package that was sent with UPS would not be accepted with them, but rather a UPS store or the distribution branch in West Rome.

Winters is charged with theft of mislaid property.
