Kevin Ray Dockery, 28 of Rome, was arrested this week for allegedly stealing a 2010 black Nissan Altima while the owner slept.
Reports said that the theft occurred on Feb. 28.
Police added that after stealing the car he called the owner and told her he was in another city with it. Two days later, the vehicle was found abandoned at Lock and Dam Park
Dockery is charged with theft by taking a motor vehicle, theft by deception, and parole violation.
