James Walter Mulkey, 33 of Braseltown, was found guilty this week of intentionally ramming his car into a YMCA employee, leaving him unable to walk.

Reports said that YMCA employee Travonta Canady was taking the trash out of the YMCA nearly three years ago when Mulkey came up to him and asked if he had any marijuana.  Reports added that Mulkey was intoxicated at the time.

It was then an argument ensued and Canady asked Mulkey to leave the YMCA property.  After leaving the scene, Mulkey returned and rammed his SUV into Canady, leaving him pinned between two vehicles.

Canady pulled out a gun and shot Mulkey in self defense.   Mulkey then attempted to flee the scene before nearly hitting a police officer on Second Avenue.  Reports stated that Canady still can’t walk and has had to move out of state so that he could get medical help for his injuries.

Mulkey was convicted of aggravated assault and aggravated battery.

Sentencing has been set for April 27.
