Zachariah Muntain Watkins, 25 of Rome, was arrested this week after attempting to strike an officer with his vehicle while they were attempting a stop.
Reports stated that attempted to stop Watkins for driving without his headlights. While officers stood in the roadway Watkins allegedly swerved toward them in an attempt to strike them. As a chase ensued, Watkins is accused of driving at high rates of speed while being reckless to those around him.
After finally stopping, officers said they located marijuana, Xanax and a gun in his possession.
Watkins is charged with aggravated assault on a police officer, possession of marijuana, possession of a controlled substance, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, attempting to elude police, reckless driving, too fast for conditions, headlight requirement and failure to maintain lane.
