Patrol officers with the Polk County Police Department were dispatched to a home on Hudson Loop Road in Aragon this week in reference to a structure fire. The abandoned mobile home was part of the Cashtown Community.
Upon arrival the fire was contained. It was reported by witnesses on scene that a grey Ford Focus passenger car was observed driving though the area earlier in the day. The same Ford Focus was observed in the area at the time of the fire, and a male subject was seen exiting the vehicle near the home. Shortly after the male exited the fire began.
Police were later able to identity the man and suspect as, Steven Moody, 62 of Rockmart.
He was later taken into custody and charged with Arson int e1st degree, criminal damage to property in the 2nd degree, criminal trespass.
The investigation is ongoing.
