Javatious Tyshaun Posey, 18 of Cartersville, was arrested in Rome this week after wrecking during a high speed police chase.
Reports said that officers attempted to pull Posey over for driving without his headlights on and failing to maintain his lane. However, instead of stopping, Posey is accused of speeding away. During the course of the chase he is accused of driving at over 20 mph of the posted limit, running a stop sign and traffic light.
When he came to an intersection of 100 East 1st Avenue he lost control of the vehicle and wrecked. Posey got out of the car and then fled the scene on foot before he was eventually captured.
A search of the car led police to find numerous Bud Light cans, and a Cobra .35 caliber handgun.
Posey is charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, obstruction, reckless driving, too fast for conditions, driving without license, failure to obey traffic devices, stop sigh violation, hit and run, open container, headlight requirement, attempting to elude police.
