Orlando Lydell Cunningham, 44 of Rome, was jailed this week after reports said he punched a 27 year-old woman in the face.
Reports said that the victim suffered visible marks from the attack.
The incident occurred at a home on East Main Street.
Cunningham is charged with battery.
