Rome Police officer Lt. Paul Greene helped pull a woman from a burning building on Spider Webb Drive Tuesday night while patrolling the area.
Reports said that Greene was driving on Martin Luther King Jr Blvd and was approaching North Broad Street when he noticed smoke and smelled fire nearby.
Once he spotted where the smoke was coming from he jumped out of his patrol car and spotted the woman near the rear of the building just outside a doorway that had heavy flames pouring out.
Greene immediately joined a civilian to help the woman out of the building and stabilize her from her injuries.
The woman suffered substantial burns and was transported to a burn unit in Austell for treatment.
