A 16 year-old Rome teen, Jevion Andrez Benham, has been arrested for the murder of 16 year-old Sincere Javier Estrada Lopez.

Benham, who was 15 at the time of the crime, was arrested on unrelated charges in Bartow County earlier in June and held in the Youth Detention Center since.

His first appearance in a Rome court was Thursday.

Funeral services have been set for a 16 year-old Rome teen that was shot and killed earlier this week.  The graveside services for Sincere Javier Estrada Lopez will be Tuesday, June 9, 2020 at 11 am at Eastview Cemetery.

Public viewing for Mr. Lopez will be Monday, June 8, 2020 from 10 am until 6 pm.

No arrest has been made in the case. Investigations continue.

Floyd County Deputy Coroner Chris Giles confirmed that the the person shot on Monday night was that of a 16 year-old African American male.

First aid was rendered to the male but he was later pronounced deceased by the coroner.

The names of those involved are not being released at this point as the investigation is in its early stages and involves juveniles.

An autopsy will be performed by the GBI Medical Examiner’s Office in Decatur.

Rome Police has confirmed a fatal shooting on Grady Avenue Monday evening around 7 pm.

Police said the the victim is described as a young male.
