William James Edenfield, 26 of Rome, is facing numerous felonies after reports said he fought with Rome City Police officers before again starting a violent fight with deputies at the Floyd County Jail.

Reports said that Edenfield “offered to do violence” against a police officer outside Kroger on Turner McCall Blvd Sunday morning after being pulled over for a traffic violation.

Officers stated that during the stop it was discovered that Edenfield was found driving under the influence of drugs.

Numerous officers were dispatched to the scene in order to apprehend Edenfield.

Deputies then stated that while at the jail he began to fight with a officer.  Reports went on to say that Edenfield head butted the deputy causing his head to bounce off an office door in the booking room.

Edenfield is charged with DUI, simple assault, twelve counts obstruction, two counts felony obstruction of an officer, eight counts simple battery of law enforcement officers, aggravated battery of law enforcement, unlawful acts of valent in a penal institution.
