Cartersville Police were dispatched to Verizon Wireless on North Morningside Drive this week in reference to a report of a person attempting to use a fake identity. Officers approached 22-year-old Shondell Lloyd of Brooklyn, New York at a counter. Lloyd immediately attempted to go around the officers and out the door.

During the attempt to secure Lloyd, an officer’s name tag was torn from his shirt and a peg was damaged. Lloyd reached for an officer’s weapon several times during the struggle. Each time, the officer responded by either moving his hips to remove the weapon from Lloyd’s reach or grabbing his arm to restrict his movement. They all fell to the floor and the officers were able to handcuff Lloyd.

Officers found a fake Georgia Driver’s License with Lloyd’s picture but with a different man’s name on it and a license number that belonged to a female. A store employee said that Lloyd presented the fake license to him and attempted to gain access to the account attached to the name on the fake license.

Shondell Lloyd was arrested and charged with forgery in the second degree, two counts of identity fraud, felony obstructing or hindering law enforcement officers, attempted removal of a weapon from a public official, and misdemeanor interference with government property.
