The identity of the Floyd County Sheriff’s Deputy and inmates who were involved in a wreck morning morning on I75 has been released.

Reports said that the wreck, which occurred near mile marker 265, involved 37-year old Floyd County Sheriff’s Deputy Nicholas Deaton, 48 year-old Antonio Gomez and Gregory Jackson, 18, both of Rome.

Reports said that Deaton struck a 2004 Lexus in the left rear.  They added that the Lexus rolled numerous times before coming to rest upright.  The FCSO’s vehicle slid across two lanes before coming to rest.

The driver of the Lexus, 52-year old Lynette Minnick of Dallas, sustained minor injuries and was transported to Kennestone Hospital.

Gomez was taken to the hospital with what was listed as serious or visible injuries.

Jackson was also taken to the hospital with what appeared to be minor injuries.

Deaton was not hurt.

Earlier this morning (Monday) a deputy with the Floyd County Sheriff’s Office was involved in a car wreck on I-75 in Cobb County while transporting two inmates to another facility.

Georgia State Patrol is working the wreck while local agencies are assisting us by taking the inmates to be checked out at an area hospital for injuries. We have deputies enroute to assist as well.
