A fugitive who was being sought in Gordon County on charges of rape and child molestation is now in custody. James Shamar Bowden was arrested in Adairsville after authorities received a tip on his whereabouts.
Bowden is also facing additional criminal charges in Bartow County.

The Gordon County Sheriff’s Office is seeking the public’s assistance in locating JAMES SHAMAR BOWDEN. He is being sought for the offenses of Rape and Child Molestation. He has no fixed address but stays in and about the Calhoun area. He is described as follows: a black/male age 33 years, height = 5’09” weight = 130 lbs. black, closely cut hair, brown eyes. If anyone has any information regarding BOWDEN’S whereabouts, please call 911 immediately.
