Brittney Hammond, 30, of Rome was arrested this week for using other’s identities to purchase cell phones.
According to police, on November 13, 2018, Hammond went to Walmart, located at 825 Cartersville Hwy, and used another person’s identity to complete a Verizon cell phone contract purchase for two iPhone Xs valued at $1,199 each. The total of both phones was $2,398.
About a week later, on November 21, 2018, Hammond returned to the same Walmart and completed another Verizon cell phone contract purchase for another iPhone Xs, valued at $1,199. This time using a different person’s identity than the time before.
Hammond is charged with two counts of felony identity fraud, felony theft by taking, and misdemeanor theft by taking.
