George Tapp, 60, of Rome was arrested this week for hitting his wife.
According to police, Tapp and the victim were at Floyd Medical Center when Tapp hit the victim causing her to fall and break her ankle. A witness stated that Tapp threatened to kill her while he was hitting her.
A police officer also witnessed Tapp driving under the influence of alcohol.
Tapp is charged with felony aggravated battery, felony terroristic threats, and driving under the influence of alcohol.
