Rome police said that a 7 year-old child was accidentally run over after being left in the car alone.

Reports stated that the child’s mother went back inside a building on Larkspur Lane to get something when the child climbed from the backseat to the driver’s seat and started the car. The child then reportedly placed the vehicle in reverse and it began to roll backwards out of the driveway.

Reports continued to say that the vehicle came to a stop by the child then placed it in neutral and it became to roll again.

The child then reportedly got out of the car and attempted to stop the vehicle from rolling by pushing before it ran over him.

The child was found alert and conscious when medical personnel arrived.  He was transported to Scottish Rite in Atlanta to be treated for what is considered non life-threatening injuries.
