Michael Anthony Martin, 52 of Stapleton, was jailed in Rome after police said he hit a 78 year-old man in the chest, leaving visible markings.
Reports added that Martin then stole over $10 in coins from the victim from inside his home.
The incident occurred at a home on Brow Road
Martin is charged with battery, theft by taking and criminal trespass.
