Johnathan Bonsignore, 27 of Rome, was arrested after he allegedly grabbed an 8 year-old child by the throat before he hit him on the side of the head.
Authorities added that the child said that the beating occurred because he refused to take a bath morning.
Reports said that the victim suffered visible marks.
The incident occurred at a home on Tency Lane.
Bonsignore is charged with aggravated assault, battery and cruelty to children.
