Thomas Chad Walls, 43 of Rome, was jailed this week at the West Rome Wal-Mart after police said attempted to leave the store with $75.42 worth of items without paying for them.
Reports said that Walls then attempted to flee the scene on foot after being approached by officers. After being captured and placed in handcuffs Walls allegedly attempted to escape again.
Walls is charged with escape, theft by taking, obstruction and theft by shoplifting.
