Xavier Cortez Cheeks, 30 of Rome, was arrested this week after he allegedly placed his hands around the throat of a 24 year-old woman during an altercation at a home on Hull Avenue.
Police said that Cheeks attempted to flee but was caught a couple of blocks away.
Cheeks is charged with felony aggravated assault and misdemeanors for simple battery and obstruction.
