Dustin Grant Strickland, 31 of Rome, was arrested at a location on Woods Road after police said he abandoned a vehicle and was found prowling around the area.
Police said that after asking Strickland to stop he began to run away in an attempt to escape.
After catching Strickland he was found to have an active warrant for his arrest.
A search uncovered a bag of suspected meth, syringes and scales on his possession.
It was also determined that he had been driving on suspended license.
Strickland is charged with possession of methamphetamine, possession of drug related objects, obstruction of law enforcement, driving no a suspended license, loitering and probation violation.
