Three men have been arrested on drug trafficking charges in Floyd County. Kenneth Matthew Skelton, 30, Edward Lamar Baker, 51, both of Rome and 23 year-old Jeffery Kurt Jenkins, of Aragon, were taken into custody during a traffic stop on Chambers Street late last week.
Reports said that police pulled over a Jeep after they saw it did not have a valid registration and had no insurance.
Officers stated that when the Jeep stopped a passenger got out and fled the scene. When they approached the vehicle they stated that they noticed the smell of marijuana, as well as spotting a blunt in the front seat.
When the men got out of the vehicle, the marijuana cigarette was missing. Baker, the driver of the Jeep, then told police that Jenkins “did something with it”.
After a search of the vehicle was conducted a jar of marijuana, as well as a bag of synthetic marijuana was located.
All three are charged with trafficking marijuana, and two counts of the purchase, possession, manufacture, distribution or sale of marijuana.
Jenkins is additionally charged with tampering with evidence.
Baker is charged with driving without a license and knowingly driving a vehicle on a suspended registration.
