Brandon Heath Drennan, 40 of Summerville, has been charged with homicide after a wreck resulted in the death of a 45 year-old Rome pastor, Lavonne Humphrey.

Authorities said that the death occurred as the result of a two vehicle accident on Highway 100.

Drennan is accused of driving into oncoming traffic on Highway 100 in his 1994 Nissan King Cab truck.

Drennan is also being charged with DUI, driving on the wrong side of the roadway, violation of the open container law and unsafe vehicle.

Reports said that Drennan has had a history of driving under the influence. In February of this year he was charged with failure to stop at stop sign, fleeing /attempting to elude officer, open container of alcohol, willful obstruction of law enforcement officer.

He was also arrested in 2010 and 2009 for pedestrian under the influence of alcohol or drugs.  Again, in 208 he was arrested for DUI / Alcohol, Driving Violations.

Authorities have identified a man killed in a two vehicle accident Thursday as that of 45 year-old Lavone Humphrey, of Lylery.  Reports said that the wreck occurred on Highway 100 at Worsham Road between Summerville and Coosa.

Humphrey was the pastor at Calhoun Avenue Baptist Church. He had also served as the pastor of West Summerville Baptist Church.

Charges are pending against the other driver, who was also seriously injured
