Greg Teems, a long time Polk School District employee, has been picked to take over as Interim Superintendent.
The motion was approved unanimously by the board on Wednesday night. They also voted to wave the school’s nepotism policy since Teem’s wife is also an administrator in the school district.
Assistant superintendent Laurie Atkins will overseen Teem’s wife, who is the principal of Rockmart Middle School.
Teems contract calls for him to receive a one time lump sum of $10,000 in addition to his current salary. He will also ge ta $250 travel allowance.
Teems has said that he has no interest in seeking the position on a permanent basis.
