A former Rome doctor, Kevin Emory Brown, has been sentenced to 20 years of probation after pleading guilty to 37 counts of unlawful distribution of a controlled substance.
Brown was granted as a first offender thanks to the plea. If he completes his 20 years without any criminal activity his record will be expunged. He must also submit to drug testing and for each year he passes a year will be taken off his probation.
He must also undergo a psychiatric assessment and not work in the medical community.
A former family doctor in Rome was booked into the Floyd County Jail this week on a failure to appear warrant. Kevin Emory Brown, 52 of Glen St. Mary, Florida, had been charged with 37 felony counts of unlawful distribution of a controlled substance.
Reports indicated that Brown voluntarily gave up his license after the charges were filed.
He has been released on bond.
