Byron Namone Zachery, 37 of Rome, was arrested on drug and weapon charges following traffic stop at the intersection of Lavender Drive and Redmond Circle.
Reports stated that Zachery was a passenger in the vehicle, and when officers went to the car they detected a strong smell of marijuana. However, the driver stated that she did not have any drugs and did not want the officer to search the car.
Reports added at that point Zachery then told the officer “I have it and I have a gun.”
Officers then were able to locate 15 bags of suspected marijuana and a Ruger pistol.
Zachery is facing possession of a schedule I controlled substance, possession of a schedule I controlled substance with intent to distribute, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime.
