Floyd County police arrested Theodore JePaul Barnett, 52 of Cave Spring, Thursday after leading police on a 20 mile chase.  Reports said that police were dispatched to a burglary call on Pleasant Valley Road when he passed Barnett, which was in a car matching the description of the suspect.

After turning around officers were able to catch up to Barnett on Rockmart Highway.  During the stop the officer spotted a TV in the backseat of Barnett’s vehicle.  That was when Barnett drove away, reaching speeds of 100 miles per hour.

With the assistance of other officers Barnett finally pulled over near the Alabama line.

Reports said that when Barnett was ordered to get out of the truck he turned the truck toward the officer’s direction and accelerated in an attempt to hit her.

After another chase ensued, the suspect finally stopped, only this time lead police on a foot chase.

Barnett was able to enter a victim’s home and demanded them to take him somewhere and proceed to demand for her keys. After she tried to escape, Barnett refused to let her go.  Police were able to track him to the home, where he was eventually captured.

Police said that on the way to the jail he kicked out the back passenger window.

He is charged with five felony counts of obstruction of an officer, felony possession of cocaine, criminal attempt to commit a felony, aggravated assault on an officer in performance of duties and false imprisonment, first-degree burglary, two counts of interference with government property, fleeing or attempting to elude a police officer and fleeing or attempting to elude a police officer for a felony offense, possession of drug-related objects, failure to stop at a railroad crossing, driving too fast for conditions, five counts of speeding, two counts of failure to obey a traffic control device, two counts of reckless driving, driving under the influence of multiple substances, two counts of driving on the wrong side of the road, four counts of passing in a no-passing zone, failure to maintain lane, driving on divided highways and a safety belt violation.
