A chase that reached speeds of 110 miles per hour on Martha Berry Boulevard landed Kierston Brooke Newman, 23 of Rome, in jail in numerous charges. Reports said that police spotted the vehicle on Old Summerville Road failing to maintain its lane. Officers said that after failing to pull over the car reached speeds of over 90 miles per hour before reaching Ga 1 where speeds reached 110 mph.

The vehicle finally stopped at the intersection of GA 140 and GA 1.

A passenger in the vehicle, Mark Thomas Scoffied, 31 of Rome, was also arrested on three counts of contempt of superior court warrants and permitting an unlicensed person to drive.

Newman is charged with eluding a police officer, speeding in excess of maximum limits, reckless driving, obstruction of law enforcement, stop sign violation and failure to maintain lane.
