Robert Van Scott, 55 of Rome, was arrested over the weekend at Redmond Regional Medical Center after he allegedly pulled a knife on a Floyd County Police Officer. Reports said that the officer told Scott that he could not leave the hospital. Scott then proceeded to pull a pocket knife out before advancing toward the officer.

Reports went on to say that the officer removed his gun and Scott stopped and tried to hide in his room. After the officer was able to get into the room he was able to talk Scott into giving up his knife.

Scott is charged with felony aggravated assault on an officer in performance of duties and possession of a knife during commission of certain felonies.
