Floyd County Police responded to a wreck just moments before a car burst into flames. Reports said that Timothy Hooker, of Kingston, allegedly ran the red light at Ga 53 and the Loop when he collided head-on with a car driven by Fhadi Rashed-Shukri of Rome.

Officers said that Rashed-Shukri was driving a Nissan Altima when it attempted to turn left at Ga. 53 from the bypass. The car was struck by Hooker’s Honda Accord, who was driving west.

Reports added that an officer noticed the Honda smoking and when they pulled Hooker out of the car it shortly burst into flames.

Hooker was taken to a local hospital, but was released a short time later.

He was cited for failure to yield.
