Polk County recyclers will no longer be allowed to drop off plastic at its convenience centers. The move comes after Paper Recovery of Rome said that it will no longer accept the products due to a dramatic decline in prices.

Polk officials said that the plastic would end up in landfills unless they found another company to take the product.

Assistant county manager David McElwee said meetings were set for this week to see if other vendors might be interested in the Atlanta area or in Ft Payne, Ala., with the help of Waste Industries and Keep Polk Beautiful.
