A Cedartown woman, Stephanie Ann Baldwin, 30, was arrested over the weekend after she allegedly hit a mall security officer with a car while attempting to get away. Reports said that Baldwin was being sought after she stole items from Spencer’s at Mount Berry Square Mall. Reports added that a store employee saw Baldwin put items in her purse and leave the store.

The store employee notified security after reviewing the security camera. Baldwin was then confronted by mall security near Sears. It was then she allegedly kicked off her shoes, dropped her purse, which contained the stolen items and ran to her car. The officer pursued and while he was attempting to get a photo of her car tag the suspect placed her car in reverse and knocked the officer over. Reports added that the officer was not seriously injured.

Baldwin is charged with aggravated assault and shoplifting. Baldwin was observed by a Spencer’s store employee putting items in her purse.

She was later found and arrested in Polk County. She is charged with driving on a suspended license, giving a false name to a police officer, aggravated assault and shoplifting.
