I said it before I will say it again, Auburn is not a top 10 program this year. Jeremy Johnson was praised more than a Kardashian on the red carpet, and has pretty much performed liked one as well. I will say this. If you read my article last week or listened to my sports call in show you will know that I had said watch out for Jacksonville State. They are a really good team. These guys go deep in the playoffs each year and took out a top notch Chattooga team in their stadium the prior week. Folks forgot about the time the Cocks beat Ole Miss, not to mention coming close to beating FSU just a few years ago as well.
<p>
On top of that the sportscasters in the world failed to mention half of their team are from SEC and ACC runoffs. Jack State is where top notch players go to revive their careers.
<p>
We also learned that Tennessee…. Is still rebuilding…..
<p>
Call me a homer, but Nick Chubb is proving to be one, if not the, best running back in college football. Already with 309 yards, he kid from Chubbtown is averaging 8.8 yards per carry. Impressive.
<p>
So far under center, Bowling Green’s Matt Johnson has commanded his team like no other. He has thrown for 915 yards, 8 touchdowns and only 1 interception. Keep a lookout for this kid as the season goes on. These numbers have been against Tennessee and Maryland, both on the road.

So what did I think about the Dawgs last week? Well, a win is a win. My wife said it best. Why is it that Georgia doesn’t seem to get on the same page, ever. She’s right. For years our offense has carried the team. When you played the Dawgs, you knew you were going to have to score 35 plus points to beat this team. The issue was, you could do it. Insert Jeremy Pruitt. The defense finally has playmakers. They have a well lead senior class with some uber talented freshmen. Insert Joe Cox. Whoops, I mean Greyson Lambert.
<p>
I’m going to give the benefit of the doubt last weekend at Vandy. The first half was terrible, but he came back and played well enough to win in the second. Those well enough’s are good for Vandy, but when they play Bama in two weeks, those well’s will get beat. I think this week you will see how much faith Mark Richt has lost in Lambert. The first two games have seen Brice Ramsey play the identical snaps. If he gets one more set, and/or one in the second half Saturday against the Gamecocks, then the battle is heating up. Richt can’t afford to wait. After this week he has Southern before the Tide rolls into the Classic City. Time to put up or shut up CMR.
<p>
Bad news/good news. Good news is I think Notre Dame will be exposed this weekend. I think they are overhyped and should not be in the top 10. Bad news. The team that will expose them is Georgia Tech. Forgive me as I throw up in my mouth a little bit.
<p>
I also think this weekend we will finally get to see just how good the big bad Bama is. I said it from the start Ole Miss will play in Atlanta this December. A win Saturday in Tuscaloosa and you can pretty much send it to the bank.
<p>
Dawgs fans better not get the big head. Steve Spurrier has one goal every season. Beat Georgia. If you don’t think he will throw the kitchen sink at Sanford Stadium Saturday then you have never watched college football. He could beat Georgia. He is a vindictive crazy old man.
<p>
Last week my Potts’ Picks took a downturn. I went 6 and 4, which brings my season totals to 15 and 5. Not bad, but good enough only for a ‘C’ on my report card. Tons of great games this week! This is now college football season baby!
