Floydell Quinchard Smith, 35 of Rome, was arrested this week after reports said he attempted to hide police evidence during an investigation on Olmstead Street.
Police said that Smith was seen on camera grabbing a backpack from a crime scene and walking away with it. Officers added that they believed that a firearm involved in the crime was located in the backpack.
Smith is charged with tampering with evidence and obstruction.
