Oak Hill & The Martha Berry Museum is excited to announce the launch of “Family Mornings,” a new, family-friendly event series designed to engage young learners and their families through interactive, educational experiences. The inaugural event will take place on Tuesday, July 22, from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

Offered free of charge and open to all ages, “Family Mornings” will be held multiple times throughout the year during school breaks, providing a fun and enriching way for families to explore the museum together.

The first event’s theme, “Music at the Berry Schools,” will feature a variety of hands-on activities and demonstrations, including:

STEM activity exploring how
music was played in the early
1900s, inspired by the museum’s
Edison amberola.

  • A dulcimer demonstration by the InSpires Pickers, a local dulcimer group.
  • “Make Your Own Music” station with instruments provided in partnership with Kindermusik at Berry College.
  • In addition to the themed activities, families will be able to tour the childhood home of Martha Berry for nominal fee at 10:00 a.m., 11:00 a.m., and 12:00 p.m. These tours are intended for children ages 6–10, though all ages are welcome. While the event and activities are free, regular admission fees apply for the tours, and reservations are encouraged through the museum’s standard reservation page.
“We’re thrilled to introduce ‘Family Mornings’ as a way to make the museum more engaging for families,” said Emma Smith, Office Manager at Oak Hill & The Martha Berry Museum.
  • “It’s a wonderful opportunity to learn, play, and explore together.”
