Ms. Virginia Murl Ellis Edwards, age 84, of Rome, Georgia, passed away on Monday, May 5, 2025.
Virginia was born in Dalton, Georgia, on February 19, 1941, daughter of the late Ernest James Ellis Sr. and the late Edna Mae Key Ellis. She was also preceded in death by her siblings Lynn Griffin, James (Jimmy) Ellis, Joyce Huggins, David Ellis, and Pierce Ellis. Virginia graduated from Whitfield High School, Dalton, Georgia in 1960. She worked at Armuchee High School and Glenwood School in various roles, including, secretary, counselor, and librarian. She retired from Armuchee Elementary as a Records Clerk in 2003. She was an incredibly loving mother, sister, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend; she will be greatly missed by all of her family and friends. Her family was her greatest treasure and she was the heart of our family. Although we will miss her laughter, her support, and her loving embrace, we are all comforted in the knowledge that she is in heaven waiting at the pearly gates for each of us with open arms and that amazing smile!
Survivors include her daughters, Tammy Davis Green (Terry), Tonya Edwards Nichols; son, Tony Davis (Trinie); 7 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00pm on Friday, May 9, 2025, in the chapel at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, North Chapel, with Pastor Greg Cater & Pastor Johnathan Huggins officiating. A private family interment will follow at Grove Level Church Cemetery, Dalton, GA.
The family will receive friends at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, North Chapel on Friday, May 9, 2025, from 11:00pm until 12:45pm.
Active pallbearers include: Tony Davis, Dakota Davis, Greg Huggins, Dale Huggins, Collin Powell, Caleb Ratliff.
Flowers will be accepted or donations may be made to a charity of your choice.
