Mrs. Sylvia Jean Jones Sweatt, age 88, of Lindale, passed away on Monday, May 12, 2025, at a local hospital.
Mrs. Sweatt was born in Rome, Georgia on June 23, 1936, daughter of the late John Henry Jones and the late Georgia Esther Lanham Jones. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Gordon Ray Sweatt. Mrs. Sweatt was a graduate of Rome High School and was of the Baptist faith. Prior to retirement, she worked for West Point Pepperell Manufacturing in the lab.
Survivors include a daughter, Lynn Mullen; three grandchildren, Amanda Hutchins (Torrey), Jamie Studdard, and Ethan Mullen (Heather); six great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, May 15, 2025, at 12pm in the Chapel at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel, with Rev. Ricky Studdard officiating. Interment will follow in Rome Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel, on Thursday from 11 until 11:45am.
Pallbearers are asked to assemble at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel, on Thursday at 11:30am and include Ethan Mullen, Torrey Hutchins, Devyn Collins, Rayshaad Clemons, David Jones, and David Morris.
