Mrs. Edna Vernon-Carter, age 89 of Cartersville, Georgia, Passed away Tuesday, May 13, 2025 at home. She was born October 10, 1935 in Piedmont, Alabama. She was the daughter of the late Henry Vernon and Nola Vernon-Stone. Mrs. Carter was a homemaker for many years then went to work at Torco, Inc. in Marietta, Georgia and retired from there.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and her husband James (Jim) Carter; four brothers William, Harvey, Hank, and Ralph Vernon; one sister Brenda Vernon-Ball; grandson George Campbell; and a great grandson, Matthew Barnes.
Survivors include four daughters, Donna Carter, Janice Campbell, Betty Thurman (Danny) and Rhonda Perry all of Cartersville, Georgia; sister Paula Vernon-Cunningham; sisters-in-law Penny and Voncille Vernon; brother-in-law O.B. Carter; seven grandchildren Dale, Angela, Jannifer, Lesley, Daniel, Katie and Crystal; eleven great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren; as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday, May 17, 2025 in the chapel of Parnick Jennings Funeral Home with Reverend Keith Willard officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Friday, May 16, 2025 at the funeral home.
Serving as pallbearers will be Dale Thurman, Daniel Thurman, Matt Barnes, TJ Clark, Houston Mulkey, and Anthony Clark.
