Melanie Dawn Wood, born on January 26, 1959 passed away peacefully at home at Riverwood Senior Living facility on May 15, 2025; she was 66. Melanie was born in Floyd County where she remained a lifelong resident. She was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church serving for many years in the Children’s ministry. Melanie was employed at The Network Day Service Center for approximately 40 years and retired in 2024; she remained active in their Art Club, Dance Club, and DIGS.

Her commitment to perfecting all things artistic was evident in her creations which she shared with all those around her. For each major holiday, Melanie was consumed with decorating and enjoyed friendly competition with other residents. She loved socializing with all whom she came in contact.
Melanie is predeceased by her parents, Jerry and Carolyn Wood. She leaves behind two siblings, several nieces and nephews and many extended family members and friends. She will be greatly missed by all those who had the opportunity to know and love her.
The family would like to express their sincere love and gratitude for those who provided her care including the staff members at both Riverwood and Heyman Hospice and her loving circle of friends.
