Ms. Carolyn Jean Lloyd Prater, age 83, of Silver Creek, GA, passed away on Friday, March 28, 2025, at a local hospital.
Ms. Prater was born in Rome, GA, on March 30, 1941, daughter of the late Wallace Camp Lloyd and the late Mary Louise Gresham Lloyd. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Wendell Lane Prater, and by her 2 sisters, Ann Lloyd Milam and Marcia Lloyd Carmichael. Ms. Prater was a graduate of Pepperell High School and went on to receive her degree in bookkeeping from Floyd Junior College. She was the long-time bookkeeper for J.L. Todd Auction company, having worked there for over 40 years before her retirement. Ms. Prater was a member of 2nd Avenue United Methodist Church and is now rejoicing in the presence of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, for eternity.
Ms. Prater was an avid reader and would read whenever she had the chance. She enjoyed cooking for her family, solitaire, and crossword puzzles. Ms. Prater loved to travel, having been to Hawaii and Ireland, and her happy place was anywhere with a beach. She loved spring time when she could get back to doing yard work, working in her flower garden, and watching the butterflies and humming birds. Ms. Prater was also a fan of western movies, country music and line dancing, but above all, she loved her family and Jesus.
Survivors include her son, Lee Brock, Silver Creek; 2 grandsons, U.S. Army SSG John Brock (Daisy), and Alex Brock (Sierra Alcott); 2 great-grandchildren, Kholey Brock and Howard Brock; her brother-in-law, Bobby Carmichael; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Funeral services will be held at 12pm on Tuesday, April 1, 2025, at 2nd Avenue United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Rick Measer and the Rev. Norv Haven officiating. Interment will follow in East View Cemetery.
Pallbearers are to assemble by 11:30am on Tuesday at 2nd Avenue United Methodist Church and include: SSG John Brock, Alex Brock, Justin Roberson, Ethan Roberson, David Carmichael, Tristan Williamon, and Richard Theakston
