Mr. Thomas “Tommy” Earl Davenport, age 89, of Rome, Georgia, passed away on Tuesday, April 22, 2025, at a local nursing facility.
Tommy was born on March 29, 1936, in Silver Creek, Georgia, to the late Thomas Gilbert Davenport and Katie Elizabeth Wilkins Davenport. He is also preceded in death by his loving wife, Emline Boozer Davenport; his daughter, Janet Karen Eve Davenport; his brothers, Harrison Lee Davenport and Clarence Gilbert Davenport; and his sister, Cathryn Geneva Sutherland.
Survivors include his devoted son Kenneth Earl Davenport (Jennifer); his grandsons, Kenneth Anthony Davenport (Leigh) and Jonathan Davenport (Stephanie); his brother, Rev. Rayford Davenport; as well as numerous beloved great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
Tommy worked as a salesman for Coca-Cola for many years and eventually retired in the mid 80’s. After his retirement, he later became employed at the Kraftman’s Country Club golf course which he enjoyed very much, due to his immense love for golfing. He also enjoyed country and gospel music, playing poker, and watching the Atlanta Braves.
Visitation will be held on Monday, April 28, 2025, from 12:00 p.m. to 1:45 p.m. at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, Oaknoll Chapel. A graveside service will follow at 2:00 p.m. at Oaknoll Memorial Gardens. Officiating will be Rev. Michael Davenport.
Serving as pallbearers will be Kenneth Anthony Davenport, Jonathan Davenport, Justin Davenport, Lawson Davenport, Dylan Waller, and Seth Fisher.
