Mr. Ricky D. West, age 70, of Kennesaw, Georgia, passed away on Sunday, March 30, 2025, in the comfort of his home surrounded by his loving family.
Ricky was born in Rome, Georgia on September 1, 1954, to the late W.E. West and Paralee West (formerly Hicks).
Survivors include his loving wife of 50 years, Kathy West; his son, Zachary West (Elizabeth), his sister, Patricia Floyd (Earl), his brother, William “Eddie” West (Mary); as well as several nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
Ricky was a proud member of the United States Navy from 1972 to 1975. He was a lifelong outdoorsman and had a huge personality. He loved making people laugh, had a good sense of humor, and was a great storyteller. He enjoyed entertaining his coworkers who lovingly called him “Buffalo” due to his size. Ricky was a father figure, uncle, and mentor to many people, all of whom loved him immensely. He was the kind of person who never met a stranger, and he could make friends with anybody. He loved his family and his country dearly and will be terribly missed but never forgotten.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, April 2, 2025, at 3:00 p.m. at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, North Chapel, with Pastor Alex Jones officiating. The family will receive friends prior to the service at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, North Chapel, from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.
Serving as pallbearers will be Ricky’s lifelong best friend, Bill Howell, James Waits, Jason Watson, Jacob Watson, Keith Smith, Gary Yarbrough, and Larry Yarbrough.
