Mr. Newton Gilroy Tate, 83, of Rome, Georgia, sadly passed away on Friday, March 28, 2025, at a local hospital.
Mr. Tate was born in Rome, Georgia on February 21, 1942, to the late King Newton Tate and Dora Virginia Tate (formerly Harris).
Survivors include his wife, Peggy Gilbert Tate; his son, Eric Newton Tate; his sister, Nina Tate Bonds; his brother, James Leigh Tate; as well as several nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
Mr. Tate was a selfless man. He was a devout Christian who live his life to reflect Jesus and made wherever life took him his mission field. He was also very active. In his lifetime he grew up and worked on his family’s dairy farm, became a horse trainer, and later on in life, an office manager.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, April 3, 3035 at 2:00 p.m. at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, North Chapel with Pastor Mac McCurry officiating. The Tate family will receive friends prior to the service from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m.
