Mrs. Sherrie Marlene Reed Drake, age 72, of Rome, Georgia, passed away on March 15, 2025.
Sherrie was born in LaGrange, Georgia, on November 30, 1952, daughter of the late James W. Reed and the late Jeanette June Manning Reed. She was a graduate of Model High School, Class of 1972. Sherrie was a Histology Technician for many years, having completed studies and practicums at Floyd Hospital. She was the first histology tech at Redmond Park Hospital in Rome in the early 1970s and served in labs in Dallas, Texas, Carrollton, Georgia, Oak Ridge, Tennessee Dothan, Alabama and Louisville, KY, until her retirement.
Sherrie was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend; a faithful Christian and pastor’s wife she will be missed by all of her family and friends.
Survivors include her husband, Pastor Stephen Daniel Drake; sons, Carey Randall Drake (Heather), and Aarron Carl Drake (Vanessa); grandchildren, Evie Drake, Arthur Drake, Lilli Drake, Daphane Moyes, and Wyatt Moyes; brother, Barry Reed (Karen); several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00pm on Wednesday, March 19, 2025, at Everett Spring Baptist Church, with Dr. Steve McVey officiating and Pastor Phil Wade assisting. Interment will follow in Oaknoll Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends at Everett Spring Baptist Church on Wednesday, March19, 2025, from 12:00pm until 12:45 pm.
Active pallbearers include: Barry Reed, Jason Miller, Randall Green, Scott Everett, Stephen McDowel, Bryan Evans.
Flowers will be accepted or donations may be made to Amedysis Hospice.
