Mr. Sam Thomas Tyler Jr., age 95, of Rome, GA, passed away on Wednesday, February 26, 2025, at a local hospital.
Sam was born in Cullman, AL, but raised in Veto, AL, son of the late Samuel Thomas Tyler Sr., and the late Nina Bolling Tyler. He was also preceded in death by his first wife, Anna Lou ‘Esther’ Edwards Tyler, and his second wife, Georgia Ruth Trapp Myers Tyler, and his siblings, Sue, Nancel, Hollis, Celia, Marvin, Howard and Hughey.
Mr. Tyler was a proud veteran, having served in the United States Navy for four years during the Korean Conflict, and then served a stint in the United States Airforce. Sam owned his own business hauling household waste for over 60 years here in Floyd County, as well as being a house painter. He also served as an Ordained Minister.
Survivors include his sons, Charles Aaron Myers Jr. and Logan Crawford Tyler; his grandchildren, Chuck Myers (Lauren), Karla Whitehead (Scott), Tiffany Dacy, and Stacey DeHaven (Les); his great grandchildren, Drake Whitehead, Leah Whitehead, William Myers, Kate Myers, Luke Myers, Gabriel ‘Elle’ DeHaven, and Tate DeHaven; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday, March 2, 2025, at 3:00pm, in the Chapel at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, Oaknoll Chapel, with the Rev. Jerry Cowart and the Rev. Eddie Benefield officiating. Graveside service will follow in Oaknoll Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, March 2, 2025, from 1:00pm until the hour of service.
