Mr. Patrick Hennon Groover, age 82, of Rome, Georgia, passed away on Thursday, March 13, 2025.
Patrick was born in Savannah, Georgia, on March 10, 1943, son of the late Traman Groover and the late Inez Barrow Groover. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Christian Groover, sisters, Martha Groover Braddock, Janet Groover Bradley, and by a granddaughter, Heather Oliver.
Patrick attended Auburndale High School and later received his GED. He served our country in the United States Air Force for 8 years. His love of airplanes took him to Delta Airlines, first as a mechanic and then as an Aircraft Inspector. After retiring, Patrick began a metal-shaping and powder coating business. He loved holding metal-shaping workshops at the Sun-N-Fun Fly In and was featured in many aircraft magazines. When he moved back to Georgia, he joined the Chattooga County Beekeepers club and the Chattooga County Wildlife Association, as well as Pleasant Valley North Baptist Church. Patrick was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend; he will be missed by all of his family and friends.
Survivors include his daughters, Jamie Richey (Wayne), and Cherie Oliver (Bradley); grandchildren, Christopher Oliver, Nicolas Oliver, Charis Richey Forman (Josh), Brian Richey (Stephanie), and Brindley Richey; siblings, Jerry Groover, Herman Groover and Frances Groover Grubbs and several nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held at 1:30pm on Tuesday, March 25, 2025, at Georgia National Cemetery. Pastor Mac McCurry will officiate the service.
Active pallbearers include; Wayne Richey, Brian Richey, Josh Forman, Christopher Oliver, Nicolas Oliver and Joseph Sargent.
Patrick’s family wishes to expresse deepest gratitude to the staff of Magnolia Place Memory Care at The Spires and Tapestry Hospice for their excellent care of their loved one in his latter days.
In lieu of flowers, family invites contributions to the Pleasant Valley North Baptist Church WinShape Camps Scholarship Fund.
