Mr. Ned Leonard “Pop” Middleton, age 89, of Rome, GA, passed away on Wednesday, February 26, 2025, at his residence.

       Mr. Middleton was born in Rome, GA, on May 31, 1935, son of the late Thomas Vince Middleton and the late Mamie Simmons Middleton. He was also preceded in death by his loving wife, Shirley Garrett Middleton, a son, Billy Nevin Middleton, 2 sisters, Fronnie Couey and Vivian Cothran, and by 7 brothers, Harvey, Alfred, Homer, Emmett, Willie V., and Bobby Jo, and Russell Middleton. Mr. Middleton was a jack of all trades and could fix just about everything. He retired from the textile industry where he worked for various local mills, but that did not stop him from working. Mr. Middleton was always using his carpentry skills to fix something including Foster’s Mill Store, not once but twice. He was a member of the Mackey Lodge #120 F & AM where he was past master of the lodge and would have celebrated his 31st year this year. Mr. Middleton loved his family above all else and enjoyed doing anything he could for them. He was a faithful member of Mountain View Baptist Church and is now rejoicing, alongside his family, in the presence of Jesus for eternity.

       Survivors include his son, Kevin Middleton (Judy), Rome; 6 grandchildren, Joseph Middleton (Tamatha), Derrick Middleton (Cheryl), Kara Middleton (Jake Coronado), Kacie Middleton, Tonya Price, and Michelle Middleton; 6 great-grandchildren, Annabelle Middleton, Chase Ruff, Cadence Ruff, Nicholas Price, Cora Price, and Malachi Sims; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

       Funeral services will be held at 2pm on Sunday, March 2, 2025, in the Chapel at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel, with the Rev. Brian Crisp, The Rev. Dale Byars, the Rev. Rob Miller, and the Rev. Micca Gillespie officiating. Interment will follow in Mountain View Cemetery where Masonic Rites will be performed.

       The family will receive friends from 5pm until 7pm on Saturday, March 1, 2025, at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel.

       Pallbearers are to assemble by 1:30pm on Sunday at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel, and include: Joseph Middleton, Derrick Middleton, Kara Middleton, Annabelle Middleton, Chase Ruff, Sean Madderra, and Lane Madderra.
