Mr. Larry Wayne Nelson, age 75, of Rome, GA, passed away on Friday, March 21, 2025, at a local hospital.
Larry was born in Rome, Georgia on May 30, 1949, son of the late Rufus Andrew Nelson, and the late Harriet Louise Daniel Nelson. He was also preceded in death by his brothers, Hubert Nelson, Robert ‘Dobby’ Nelson, Darrell Nelson, and Gerald ‘Jug Head’ Nelson.
Mr. Nelson was a member at Pleasant Valley South Baptist Church. He was a member of the Local #72 Pipe Fitters Union. Larry enjoyed fishing, camping, and taking trips to the Smokey Mountains. He was a family man, he loved spending time with his family, especially his grandkids.
Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Brenda Edwards Nelson; his children, Jason Nelson (Lisa), and Michelle Nelson Reynolds (Jeff); his grandchildren, Baleigh Reed (John), Carter Nelson, Blake Reynolds, and Layne Reynolds; his brothers, Monty Nelson (Pat), and Ronald Nelson; his sisters, Wanda Smith (Tommy), and Donna Tolbert (Lamar); several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Graveside funeral services will be held on Tuesday, March 25, 2025, at 3:00pm, in Floyd Memory Gardens, with Rev. Billy Fricks officiating.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, March 25, 2025, from 1:30pm – 2:30pm at Pleasant Valley South Baptist Church.
Pallbearers are asked to assemble at Pleasant Valley South Baptist Church on Tuesday, March 25, 2025, by 2:15pm and include Carter Nelson, Blake Reynolds, Jeff Reynolds, Dewayne Nelson, Dean Nelson, and John Reed.
