Mr. James S. “Steave” Satcher, age 71, of Taylorsville, GA, passed away on Friday, March 14, 2025, at a hospital in Rome, GA.

“Steavie”, as he was affectionately known by his family, was born on January 8, 1954, in Floyd County, GA, son of the late Jesse Satcher, Jr., and the late Helen Louise Woods Satcher. He was also preceded in death by the love of his life, Linda Gale Miller, and by a brother, Ron Satcher. Steave was a graduate of Pepperell High School and continued his education at Coosa Valley Technical College where he studied electronics. He retired from Terhune Electric Company where he worked as an electrician there for his whole career. He was a veteran of the United States Army and was a member of the Shanklin Attaway Post #5 American Legion.

Steave was a jack-of-all trades and was constantly tinkering and fixing things for people. When his health allowed it, he enjoyed dancing with his love 2 nights a week, deep sea fishing, hunting, and hanging with his buddies at the Americ an Legion. In his later days Steave enjoyed a more private lifestyle. He loved nothing more than being out in God’s creation checking on his fruit trees. Steave also enjoyed sitting outside his shop listening to the radio watching cars go by and watching his trail cams. Although he suffered in his final days on this side, he is now rejoicing in God’s presence, in perfect health, for eternity.

Survivors include his son, Bradley Satcher (Maegen), Middleburg, FL; 3 grandchildren, Kaylee Polen (Seth), Brianna Satcher, and Aidan Satcher; a great-grandson, Oliver Polen; his bonus children, Rob Miller (Diana), Denise Hoyt (Hank), Sharon Phipps (Ricky), Teresa Woods (Tim), Torrey Miller, Misty Perdue (Mark), and Bryan Lee Ely, ; 19 bonus grandchildren; 17 bonus great-grandchildren; 3 siblings, Sherri Erwin (Harold), Melissa Littlefield (Perry), and Tim Satcher (Emmelly); numerous nieces and nephews.

In line with his simplistic lifestyle, Steave will be cremated and a graveside service will be held at 10am on Saturday, March 22, 2025, at Mt. Tabor Baptist Church Cemetery. The Rev. Rob Miller will officiate and the Rome American Legion Honor Guard will deliver military rites.
