Marquita Levette Wright-Davis is the first to publicly declare candidacy for the Rome City Board of Education, bringing a unique perspective as a current employee, engaged parent, dedicated volunteer and community supporter in the Rome City School system.
A lifelong advocate for education and community empowerment, she is committed to ensuring that every child receives the opportunities they deserve.
Davis’s journey is one of resilience. Neglected and given away as a baby, then adopted, she knows what it feels like to be overlooked and doubted. After tragically losing her four-year-old son to a rejected transplant, she transformed her pain into purpose—fighting for children who feel unseen and ensuring they know their worth and potential.
As Founder and Program Director of the South Rome Free Tutoring & Mentoring Program, Davis provides academic support and mentorship to students from grades K – 12 in Rome City Schools. She also serves as Youth Advisor and Director for the Rome-Floyd NAACP Youth
Council, emphasizing her commitment to young minds.
Her advocacy spans youth, the homeless, elderly, families, churches, nonprofits, and political campaigns, working tirelessly to uplift the community. She also serves as Secretary and Executive Board Member for the Rome Junior Wolves Athletic Organization, supporting
student-athletes with free tutoring.
In 2024, Davis launched the first-ever Youth Voter Experience, introducing children ages 5 to 17 to the electoral process through a mock voting event with ballots, voter stickers, and real candidates. Her efforts in civic engagement and education earned her the 2025 Heart of the
Community Award for outstanding community impact.
Davis’s campaign is focused on enhancing educator support, expanding educational opportunities, strengthening community engagement, and ensuring all students—regardless of background or language—have the resources to succeed.
Her campaign committee, Marquita: Bold Advocacy, Real Action, reflects her relentless pursuit of meaningful change. “I have spent my life serving this community, and now is the time to take that service to the next level,” said Davis. “Our children deserve the best, and I am ready to bring fresh perspectives, accountability, and dedication to the Rome City Board of Education.”
